Holmes Heart
The Holmes Heart is a very rare heart condition. History was made when a case was presented upon autopsy in 1824 by Andrew Holmes. It was the first documented case of a single ventricle heart. The autopsy was conducted on a 21-year-old gentleman who had chronic cyanosis and congestive heart failure. The autopsy revealed only a left ventricle; the morphological right ventricle was absent. In a Holmes Heart the great vessels are normally related. Holt-Oram syndrome
Disorder characterized by distinctive malformations of the bones of the thumbs and forearms (upper limbs) and/or abnormalities of the heart.
